Government ministers are working on ways to improve compliance with dog licensing and microchipping laws.

The Taoiseach has called for better coordination of dog policing following a recent attack on a young boy in Co Wexford.

9-year-old Alejandro Miszan was seriously injured in the attack by a pit-bull terrier.

Head of Communications at Dogs Trust Ireland, Ciara Murran, says proper dog training is vital in preventing dangerous behaviour.
