Housebuyers in Cork are paying an average of 7% more for a new home than they would have a year ago.

Experts are warning prices are only going to keep rising as long as there there is a gap between supply and demand.

The Irish Examiner reports the prices of homes have almost doubled since their recession-era low in 2013.

Outside of Dublin the amount people are paying for a home has gone up by 7.4%.

In Munster all 10 of the most expensive areas are in Cork – with buyers paying the most in Crookstown, Kinsale, Ballincollig and Carrignavar.
