Household savings have returned to pre-pandemic levels

Total household savings were 30% higher at the end of May, than at the start of the pandemic, at €144 billion.
An economic letter from the Central Bank says the rate at which households are saving has now returned to 2019 levels.
It says as at mid- 2022, higher costs of living are reducing real income in Ireland.
