Households Being Urged To Submit Meter Reading This Weekend To Avoid Overpaying Hundreds Of Euro On Energy Bills
Households are being urged to submit a meter reading this weekend to avoid overpaying hundreds of euro on their energy bills
Seven Irish energy providers will raise their prices from October – by between 17 to 50 per cent – depending on the supplier.
These price hikes are likely to effect two million electricity customers and 600-thousand gas customers – adding ‘hundreds’ to their bills.
Darragh Cassidy from Bonkers.ie says without regular meter readings people could be paying more for their gas and electricity:
“The problem is the bill for the energy you owe will be based on today’s price. It won’t be based on the price of your electricity or gas at the time it was consumed. So that’s why with big increases set to come into effect next month, I’d encourage everyone to submit a metre reading as soon as possible.”
