INTO say primary schools are going to have a difficult time between now and Christmas

The Irish National Teachers Organisation is calling for clarity on the rollout of antigen testing for primary school children, and the 5 day restriction on movements for households.A meeting between the primary teachers union and Department of Education is due to take place later.INTO General Secretary, John Boyle, says schools have been under pressure:

“The torrid time we’ve had with substitution, even though the Department did put in efforts just after Halloween to address that. I think we’ll have a difficult time between now and Christmas. But hopefully those measures that government put in yesterday, will begin to take effect in a few weeks. At the moment, there’s 1000 children aged between five and 12, who had tested positive in the two weeks up to last Sunday night.”
