Ireland round off qualifying campaign with a win
The Republic of Ireland rounded off their World Cup qualifying campaign in style last night.
The Boys in Green defeated Luxembourg by three goals to nil, Cork’s Chiedozie Ogbene on the scoresheet scoring the second.
The former Cork City attacker was also named player of the match for his performance.
Another Ireland goal for Chiedozie Ogbene and a great one it was! 👏

Ireland finish third in the group, it’s the first time in over 20 years that the Boys in Green have scored three goals in consecutive competitive away fixtures, and they now haven’t conceded in over 7 hours of football.
And boss Stephen Kenny says there is more to come from his team.
“There was a lot of pressure on the players after the defeat to Luxembourg [in the reverse fixture].
“The players have responded brilliantly, and they deserve the credit because they’re an absolute pleasure to work with.
“Keith Andrews, Anthony Barry and Dean Kiely, and all the staff behind the scenes, have been brilliant with the players, and it’s a real collective effort.”
