The Irish Pharmacy Union has warned a growing shortage of pharmacists is fast becoming a major threat to community healthcare.
A recent IPU survey revealed it’s now taking an average of five months to fill vacant positions in pharmacies.
It’s calling on the government to increase the availability of third level places in pharmacy, as well as making it easier for international pharmacists to gain Irish work permits.
