ISPCA Calls On Home Owners To Accommodate Unwanted Dogs

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is calling on home owners to accommodate unwanted dogs.

It says it has been overwhelmed with the amount of dogs it received during the Covid pandemic that have not been reclaimed.

The Society says it now has to rent out space to house unwanted dogs which is stretching its finances.

Dr. Cyril Sullivan of the ISPCA says the current situation is becoming difficult to manage:

“We have a serious situation where animals are staying longer with us, which is not freeing up space. We have more animals coming in. We’re now in a situation where we’re going to have to rent private kennels, which are very expensive for a charity like the ISPCA. So we’re looking for people to help and to come in and to make themselves available to rehome them if at all possible”.
