Justice Minister is making moves to set up a landmark agency, to oversee the delivery of domestic abuse services

It’s on the back of a review of refuge accommodation by Tusla, which identified 10 areas where there is a significant under-provision of services.Helen McEntee says while the refuge places will take time to establish, they are a key priority of Government:

“It would mean eventually everybody having access on their doorstep or as close as possible to a refuge but I think we need to take it incrementally. And I’m very clear that we can’t do this overnight, simply because it’s not about bricks and mortar. The wraparound support is available to follow through, and that will take time to do and to do it right.”
