Labour A “Huge Problem” On Turkey Farms This Year Due To Pandemic Says One Turkey Farmer
Labour is a “huge problem” on turkey farms this year due to the pandemic, says one turkey farmer.
Paul Hogan, from Hogan’s Farm in Meath, says the next few weeks will be very busy – but that Christmas Day can’t be “pushed out”.
He adds that the farm will supply 80,000 turkeys this year, and planning for the festive season usually begins nine months prior.
Hogan also says this year has been difficult, as costs are high:
“Yeah, the costs this year are very substantial. It’s probably the toughest year yet on cost. We just don’t know where it’s going to end. But I think everyone is in the same boat really, you know?”
