Labour Senator calls for improved working conditions for bar workers

Plans to change the licensing hours must be accompanied by improved working conditions for night-time workers.

The Minister for Justice announced clubs will be allowed to open until 6am from next year.

Pubs will get later opening hours during the week and off licence’s will be able to open from 10am on Sundays.

Labour employment spokesperson, Senator Marie Sherlock says the Government must commit to modernising the terms and conditions of workers in the night-time economy in tandem with the licensing laws.
