Lord Mayor hosts Governor of New Jersey

The City’s Lord Mayor has been hosting the Governor of New Jersey who is on a three day trade mission to Ireland.

While in Cork Governor Murphy will meet with representatives of the business, academic and scientific communities in the city.

The delegation aims to explore the potential for strengthening business ties between New Jersey and the Cork region.

The Governor’s itinerary includes a meeting with Cork Chamber of Commerce, a tour of laboratories at UCC and a discussion on clean energy.

Lord Mayor Cllr Colm Kelleher says Cork will be the city of choice for those looking to invest internationally as it’s the fastest growing city in the country and is experiencing a huge level of investment on a national and international level.

He added that there is a confidence in the city and the region, which is being backed up by Government commitment of €2 billion spend in improving infrastructure and public realm.
