Mallow General Hospital Could Be “Dun Laoghaire Of The South” For Provision Of Rehabilitation Treatment
Mallow General Hospital could be the Dun Laoghaire of the South, when it comes to the provision of Rehabilitation Treatment.
That’s according to Cork East TD, Seán Sherlock.
He was reacting to the HSE’s confirmation that construction of the 48-bed extension to Mallow General Hospital is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
They also told him that addition infrastructure is being included as part of the project with the intention of being used for future rehabilitation services.
Speaking to Red FM News, Deputy Sherlock says this secures the future of Mallow General Hospital:
“We’ve been working on this for a long time now. A 48-bedded unit but also with the potential capacity for rehabilitation services. We want Mallow General Hospital to be like the Dun Laoghaire of the South. We think that there is room in Munster for a hospital like Mallow to create rehabilitation services, so that people in Munster don’t have to constantly go to Dun Laoghaire. So that’s one of the plans that we’re working on, that capacity is built into the new extension in the hospital along with 48 beds”.
