Man arrested after incident in Fermoy

A man in his 20s has been arrested in Co Cork following an incident of criminal damage involving a car.

A pedestrian was also injured during the incident.

Gardaí in Cork were alerted to an incident of criminal damage yesterday at approximately 3:30pm on Mac Curtain Street in Fermoy.

A car drove down the street and damaged a number of parked vehicles.

During the incident, it also struck a pedestrian, who is believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and taken to Fermoy Garda station.

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He remains in Garda custody and investigations are ongoing.

    This man was not well. He had medical issues and ASD. serious incidents but no mention of why he wasn’t able to get help along with his family . This is what happens when services are no available here in Ireland for mental health and disability services . Double edge sword such an awful act and distress for every one including his family . Glad every one was ok but please be mindful of Mental health so many families in Ireland live with tragic situations so much more can be done and should be done
