Man Convicted of Knife Attack On Ex-Wife Released From Prison After Serving Sentence
Pearse McAuley has walked free from prison after spending 7 years of a 12 year sentence behind bars for a knife attack on his ex-wife.
He stabbed Pauline Tully, now a Sinn Féin TD, 13 times in 2014.
They had met in the same prison in Castlerea Roscommon where she had been visiting another republican prisoner and were married in 2003.
He repeatedly knifed his estranged wife after assaulting her as she lay on the kitchen floor during the prolonged attack.
Pauline Tully said that he should have served a longer sentence.
