Man who attacked another man with lump hammer and stole his dog jailed for two years

28 year old Michael Molloy of Cúl Árd, Carrigtwohill appeared before Cork Circuit Criminal Court earlier today.

The robbery happened on the 11th of April on Ballincollie Road in Ballyvolane at around 4:30pm.

The court heard the father of four was filmed taking the French bulldog from his car by his own home CCTV system.

Molloy pleaded guilty and has been in custody since April.

Defence barrister Niamh Steward put her clients actions down to a ‘moment of madness’ and said he suffered from a drink and drug problem.

Judge Olann Kelleher described it as an ‘outrageous attack’ and jailed Molloy for two years backdated to April and also disqualified him from driving for two years.
