Mother and Baby Homes survivors bill expected to reach over €1.5 billion
The Government expects the bill to the exchequer for compensation to Mother and Baby Homes survivors to reach over 1.5 billion euro.
According to the Mail on Sunday, there’s little confidence that Churches will contribute significantly based on previous redress schemes.
Just 200 million of the 1.5 billion expected from the Catholic Church has been paid so far.
Sources have told the paper that the 1.5 billion euro bill to the taxpayer is a ‘conservative estimate,’ of what will be required.
