Motorists in Cork urged to be extra careful on the roads this morning

Motorists in Cork should prepare for icy stretches this morning, with a Status Yellow Snow and Ice warning in place for the country.

There has been scattered showers of hail, sleet and snow overnight, which has left hazardous conditions in some areas.

The alert’s due to last until 11am.

Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel says conditions are hazardous.

“There is a snow and ice warning in place across the country this morning.

“That’s in relation to heavy blustery showers crossing from west to east direction across the country, especially through morning rush hour in some parts of the south of the country in particular.

“There could be some accumulations, even down to low levels, leading to some disruptions on the roads.”
