Motorists Urged To Reduce Speed And Remain Alert As Volume Of Traffic Is Set To Increase Significantly Over Bank Holiday
Motorists are being urged to reduce speed and remain alert as the volume of traffic is set to increase significantly over the bank holiday.
The Road Safety Authority is urging road users to ensure they stay safe by planning their route ahead of time, to stay alert driving in unfamiliar areas and to take a break if tired behind the wheel.
Communications Manager with the RSA Brian Farrell, says the next few days are high-risk for motorists:
“The June Bank Holiday’s a high risk period on our roads and last year, sadly, we lost two lives in a road and 14 people were seriously injured. So we’re appealing to the road using public to take extra care when using roads this weekend. It’s going to be busy out there on the roads. There’s going to be lots of things happening around the country, with people holidaying around the country”.
