Murder Investigation Launched In Relation To Assault In Mountjoy Prison On Friday
A murder investigation has been launched in relation to the assault of Robert O’Connor in Mountjoy Prison in Dublin on Friday.
He was rushed to the Mater Hospital but catastrophic injuries led to the life support machine being turned off today.
Suspects have been identified in the investigation into the death of the prisoner but they’ve yet to be questioned.
Chief Reporter at the Irish Mirror, John Hand, says there’s no real rush to question the suspects because they’re all behind bars already:
“There are two investigations taking place. The prison authorities are carrying out their own investigation, but the Garda investigation will take priority in this case. My understanding is that three suspects have been identified but they’ve yet to be questioned. They’re all in the prison system so there’s no particular rush there”.
