A preliminary review into the Sophie Toscan Du Plantier case has reportedly looked at whether new technology would be of use to investigators.

The Sunday Independent reports a team has been over the details of the investigation and is due to report to senior Garda management with findings soon.

Members also examined whether witnesses who were previously non-co-operative would change their stance if a review was called.

Sophie was killed outside her holiday home in Schull, West Cork over 25 years ago, but nobody has ever been charged in connection with the case in Ireland.

In a statement issued to RedFM News this morning, Gardaí said an investigation into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier remains active and ongoing.

An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to anyone who may have any information on this crime to contact the Garda investigation team at Bantry Garda Station 027 20860 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
