Non essential travel reopens
More leisure and sun holiday destinations are coming on stream for passengers using Cork Airport.
It comes as non-essential international travel has re-opened today and staff are looking forward to welcoming passengers back.
15 routes are operating out of Cork with reduced capacity however management say they are working hard to build on these numbers as the aviation industry recovers from the impact of Covid-19.
€1.4 million in funding was announced for Cork Airport on Friday on top of the €10 million already committed for the runway works beginning in September.
Speaking to RedFM News Cork Airport’s Kevin Cullinane says the restoration of connectivity to major hubs is also a big help.
“Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Swiss, Air France, Lufthansa are all reinstating routes, and the connectivity to major hub airports has been restored.
” We’re starting to see more leisure and sun holiday destinations being added for the remaining months of the summer, so people can take that welcome holiday before the children go back to schools in September.”
