Novak Djokovic To Spend Next Three Nights In Australian Government Detention Hotel Until Visa Decision Made

Novak Djokovic will spend the next three nights in an Australian government detention hotel until a decision’s made about whether he can stay in the country.

The tennis star’s appeal against the rejection of a visa’s been adjourned until Monday.

He’d travelled after announcing he had a medical exemption to avoid mandatory Covid vaccination to compete at the Australian Open.

Fellow 20-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal says Djokovic knew the rules:

“If he wanted`, he will be playing here in Australia without a problem now. In some way, I feel sorry for him, but at the same time, he knew the conditions since a lot of months ago, so he makes his own decision.”
