Over 3,500 people and 55 groups will entertain crowds at this years St Patricks Day Parade in the city.
The parade starts at 1pm and will start at the top of the South Mall, making its way onto Grand Parade and Patricks Street before ending at the junction of Grand Parade and Parnell Place.
Traffic restrictions are in place and people are being encouraged to use public transport and the park and ride service.
Cork’s RedFM are media partners to the parade, which will be MC’d by Red Breakfasts’ Laura O’Mahoney.
Speaking to RedFM News, Events Co-ordinator with the City Council Marcella Whelan Kelly says two marching bands from the United States will bring huge energy to the parade:
“It’s great to have them back this year know that full international travel is something we can do again. We have two bands coming over this year one from Florida and one from Colorado. The Florida band is 350 college students it’s going to be amazing. The one from Grandview in Colorado is high school students who are in the parade and they’re singing at the mass in the north cathedral and they’re also performing later on in the afternoon as well.”
