It's the third vaccine trial with positive results in recent weeks.

This vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca involved two doses of the vaccine on 131 volunteers who contracted Covid 19.

It showed the vaccine was 90% effective after the first dose and 62% after the second dose a month later - leading to an effective rate on average of 70%.

There were no serious side affects and AstraZeneca says it will now prepare to submit its data for conditional or early approval.

This is the third high profile vaccine result in recent weeks.

Pfizer showed its vaccine was 95% effective after concluding trials while Moderna’s says it’s vaccine is also 95% effective
