Parents of Baby John confirmed
The parents of Baby John have been confirmed almost 40 years after his body was found on a beach in Kerry.
DNA samples show the couple arrested on suspicion of murder last week are the baby’s parents.
The pair – a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s – were released without charge and deny any wrongdoing.
Baby John was stabbed to death and was found on White Strand beach in Caherciveen in 1984.
Aidan O’Connor – Chief Reporter with Kerry’s Eye – says the DNA samples were obtained late last week:
“The couple individually and separately volunteered them. Those swabs DNA were sent to forensic science Ireland, the Garda headquarters in the Phoenix Park. The results were turned around in a matter of hours. And they concluded that that couple are the parents of Baby John.”
