Partner Of Shot Man Says She Heard Bang As Soon As He Opened The Door
The partner of a man who was shot dead as he went to answer a knock at the door late at night, has told a jury she heard a loud bang as soon as he clicked down the handle.
She was giving evidence at the trial of 25-year-old Lorcan Merriman from Lealand Close, Clondalkin, Dublin, who is accused of murdering Thomas Farnan in 2016.
Elaine Heffernan told the jury that she and Thomas Farnan had known each other since they were kids.
On April 25th 2016, they were living together in a house at Kilcronan Close in Clondalkin.
At about 11.30 that night, she said she heard three soft taps on the front door.
Thomas got to it before she did.
As soon as he clicked down the handle, she said she heard a loud bang. The glass in the door shattered and she said she screamed at him, but got no answer.
She told the jury she saw blood but didn’t know where it was coming from.
“He never got to open the door,” she said. “They shot him through the door.”
Thomas Farnan died after being shot at least five times. Lorcan Merriman has pleaded NOT guilty to his murder.
