People urged to begin Christmas shopping early

Shoppers are being urged to get their Christmas presents early.
Consumer experts say the pandemic, Brexit and global supply chain issues could lead to shortages.
The blockage of the Suez Canal earlier this year also caused unprecedented disruption to global trade.
Consumer Affairs correspondent with the Irish Times, Conor Pope, says the costs of shipping is also causing a problem.
“You also have this really chronic shortage of HGV drivers in the UK, that’s proving very difficult to manage.
“Then you have the fact that container shipping, the actual cost of the containers that bring products all over the world, has gone through the roof in recent months.
“All of that is going to put huge pressure on supply chains.”

Can we just simply slow down, people are under enough pressure at the minute with covid-19 testing’s from schools, parents having to return to the office, leaving lectures in universities that we cannot attend if your child has to self-isolate until the 2nd test comes back negative. Homework folders are once again been sent home just like our covid lockdown era and it is going to be a continuum. Christmas in our house does not come into play until Halloween is over. Personally I think Covid-19 has grounded me, my family and my own community and it has personally made us look at what is important and for me it is family. Our world is on fire, our world is drowning, young families particularly from Afghanistan are in dire striates. Yet we also need to fundamentally look at our own in this context. A word that gets thrown from A to B.
