Peter Aiken hopeful Live at the Marquee will continue
The organiser of the Live at the Marquee concert series says he’s hopeful the event will continue into the future, but says nothing is guaranteed.
Peter Aiken was speaking in the city earlier today where Rod Stewart was announced as the latest act to play the iconic yellow and blue tent.
The Marquee has entertained over 1.2 million people since 2005 and has played host to artists including Bob Dylan, Kanye West, Elton John and Lady Gaga.
Plans for Live at the Marquee 2024 are already in the works, however Peter Aiken says it depends on when redevelopment will start at the site on Monahan Road.
Speaking to RedFM News at today’s announcement, Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions says Live at the Marquee could potentially continue for another few years.
“It’s been such a great history for Aiken Promotions as well. We’ve had a great run of it, it’s done well every year, there’s no major upsets, we’ve done some of the best artists in the world, we’ve made some great friends doing it both on the stage and off the stage.
“It’s just the end of an era, maybe. And things do end. There are people provisionally booked for dates next year, but the builders have to say when they’re hoping to build. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
