Plans For More Border Checks On Chilled Meats Going From EU Into Britain Dropped

Plans for more border checks on chilled meats going from the EU into Britain this summer are being dropped.

UK Ministers have decided to delay the introduction of post-Brexit checks until at least next year.

Negotiators are at an impasse over trade rules.

Unionists are angry that they mean Northern Ireland’s treated differently than the rest of the UK.

Europe minister James Cleverly says they’re pushing to find a solution:

We see these tensions building over time. The longer this goes unresolved, the more those tensions build – that is a deeply, deeply undesirable situation. We will need to look at ways of addressing and alleviating those community tensions”.
