Primary School Teachers Could Be Balloted On Strike Action If Government Doesn’t Engage On Public Sector Pay Talks

Primary school teachers across the country will be balloted on strike action in the coming weeks – unless the government engages on public-sector pay talks.

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation took the decision today to initiate a September ballot of all its members for potential industrial action, unless the Government put, what it described as, a respectable pay offer on the table.

Balloting for industrial action will be preceded by a two-week consultation process with a full ballot of all members in early September – if the Government fails to met teachers demands.
