Private nursing home operators closing care homes to accommodate refugees
Last updated on
Some private nursing home operators are choosing to close their care homes in favour of accommodating refugees.
That’s according to the Junior Minister for Older People, who has held urgent meetings in the past number of days on the issue.
Over the past three months, 11 nursing homes around the country have announced their closure.
Minister Mary Butler says it’s highly unusual.

Absolutely disgusting, I work with the elderly and these people have worked hard all their lives and deserve to be looked after in a safe , comfortable environment. Shame on these homes and our pathetic excuse for government for allowing it to happen
