PSNI Says Those Who Planted ‘Viable Device’ In Strabane Are ‘Reckless’
The PSNI says those who planted what they’ve called a ‘viable device’ in Strabane are ‘reckless’.
It believes it could be the work of the New IRA.
Two officers were targeted on Thursday night in Mount Carmel Heights in an attack involving an improvised explosive device.
It’s being treated as attempted murder.
Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton says the officers were simply doing their job:
“No, it was routine patrols in respect of ongoing antisocial behaviour, which again just demonstrates these are officers who are trying to provide a safer community for people, which is absolutely at odds to the aspirations of those who carried out this attack”.
