Rules around close contacts are set to be reviewed by public health officials tomorrow.
It follows a request by coalition leaders to look at reducing the current isolation period due to Omicrons impact on vital services.
It comes as a further 21,302 Covid cases where confirmed here yesterday, while 884 people are in hospital and 90 in ICU.
Infectious Disease Consultant, Eoghan DeBarra, says it’ll take time for the numbers to fall.
“It’s a slow process of numbers coming down.
“I think we’ll see continued pressure on the health service, I think we’ll see continued pressure on staffing levels in many sectors.
“However I think this too will pass, as other waves have, and in many ways given vaccination rates, given the levels of preparedness, given the compliance of the population this isn’t as bad as previous waves.”
