Regeneration of Blackpool long over due says Cllr Mick Nugent
There has to be a vision for the redevelopment of Blackpool.
That’s according to a local councillor who says that both dereliction and developer led construction are destroying the village.
112 social housing units are set to be complete in the area by November of this year with more planning applications in progress to further develop the area.
Politicians are calling for enhanced amenities in the area such as green spaces, bus routes and sporting clubs.
Speaking to RedFM News, Councillor Mick Nugent says the regeneration of Blackpool is long overdue.
“There is an element of vacancy and dereliction in Blackpool. A number of the buildings, like the old Distillery Bar is vacant, and a bit of an eye sore there right next to Seamus O’Reilly’s garage.
“There is a housing development planned for there which residents are kind of unsure about at the moment, which will go through the planning process.
“There’s an element of dereliction in Blackpool, and that’s one of the reasons why I called at Council for some sort of plan, some sort of town or village health check for Blackpool.”
