Rescue Efforts In Morocco Hindered By Aftershocks Since Friday’s Massive Earthquake

The rescue effort in Morocco is being hindered by aftershocks since Friday’s massive earthquake.

Over 2,100 people have died and more than 2,500 were injured in the 6.8 magnitude quake.

Rebecca Powell is a West Cork artist who lived in Morocco for several years.

Speaking on the Neil Prendiville Show on Cork’s RedFM, Rebecca says villages have been utterly devastated:

“There is no internet, there is no coverage, there is no power. There’s no way for villages to find out what’s happened to another village, other than walking over the mountains and having a look. And what’s happening is people are doing that and they’re finding utter devastation. And the thing is, there are villages that are so remote that no one can get to them yet to know if they still exist or if the people are still alive”.
