Saint Vincent De Paul issue an appeal for volunteers

Saint Vincent De Paul have issued an appeal for volunteers.

It comes as the charity say they’ve seen a drop in people volunteering since before the pandemic.

SVP say they have been overwhelmed with generosity from the publics donations but need to recruit new volunteers to work in various roles.

The society are recruiting roles in education, IT, fundraising, housing and retail and are encouraging anyone with talent in any area to volunteer.

The charity are hosting an information evening at the Aula Maxima, University College Cork tomorrow from 7.30pm.

Speaking to RedFM News, Regional Co-ordinator of Saint Vincent de Paul, Gerry Garvey, says that the volunteers had a busy but rewarding Christmas:

“I found it very striking that in the four or five weeks running up to Christmas Eve, It was particularly strong, there was massive demand for help. And thankfully we were able to give huge amounts out to the point, I think that both our members our staff were pretty exhausted by the time we hit Christmas, but I think we did achieve a lot of milestones because the huge amounts of help was given out.”
