Several Irish banks react to ECB's decision to raise interest rates by 0.5%

The European Central Bank intends to increase the rates by the same amount again in March.

AIB has announced an average interest rate rise of 0.5% on its fixed and variable rate mortgages.

Bank of Ireland's confirmed rates for all tracker mortgages will increase by half of a per cent.

President of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, indicated they want to see energy price supports eased, after she met with Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe:
