Sexton to discuss contract situation after Six Nations
Johnny Sexton is going to discuss his contract situation with the IRFU after the Six Nations.
The 36 year old Ireland captain’s current deal expires this summer, but he is keen to keep playing as long as possible.
Sexton is the current first choice out half, and with a World Cup in France on the horizon next year, his availability or lack thereof will be key.
Speaking from the training camp in Portugal, Sexton says Ireland are primed for a strong Six Nations, starting with the game against Wales in Dublin on Saturday.
“It helps when you come off the back of a good November and a very happy camp.
“We’ve spoken about trying to take it to a new level, and it’s been a fantastic environment to be part of for the last two years. It’s really changed, but we’ve figure out ways to push it on and make it better in terms of our performances as well.
“We’re working hard, don’t get me wrong it hasn’t been all slapping each other on the back – it’s been tough work over here.”
