Social distancing rules could change for pubs and restaurants
Social distancing rules may change for the reopening of pubs and restaurants that serve food, but only if you leave after 90 minutes.
It’s understood the two metre rule will reduce to one under these conditions, after the Health Protection Surveillance Centre issued draft guidelines.
Customers will also have to spend at least nine euro on a substantial meal and they will have to pre-book.
Paul Hayden from Fáilte Ireland says the measures will help businesses get back on their feet.
“We welcome the development that allowed for less than two metres in certain circumstances.
“We’re just working through the Health Protection Serveillence Centre document in conjunction with officials from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport.
“We’re really trying to seek clarity of some aspects of incorporating the guidance into our sector and specific operational guidelines.
“There’s work to be done but anything that helps the viability of businesses, we welcome.”
