South Dublin County Councillor – Emma Murphy – has become the first LGBTQ+ woman to be appointed Mayor of a Local Authority.
She says she’s absolutely thrilled to have been elected – particularly on the eve of the Dublin Pride Parade.
Mayor Murphy says she hopes it sends a message of hope and solidarity to all members of the LGBTQ-plus community.
