State Of Emergency Declared In Sri Lanka As Country Tackles Shortages Of Food, Fuel And Medicine

A state of emergency has been declared in Sri Lanka as the country tackles a shortage of food, fuel and medicine.

Yesterday students and other protestors held a national strike day and gathered outside the parliament.

Many are calling for the Prime Minister and President to resign.

Water canons and tear gas have been used by police to try and disperse them.
