Status yellow thunderstorm warning issued for today

A status yellow thunderstorm warning for the entire country has been issued for today.
The warning will come into effect from 3pm until 3am on Monday.
It comes as the country currently deals with a heatwave, and a high temperature warning that’s expected to last until Monday.
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather says the thundery downpours may lead to spot flooding.
“It will get very heavy. We’ll say humidity increasing and then those thunderstorms will kick off. And that could give way to some thunder and downpours which could unfortunately lead to some localised spot flooding.”
