Storm Barra to hit Cork tomorrow
Homeowners in the south and west are preparing for ‘Storm Barra’ which will hit Ireland tomorrow.
A Status Orange Alert is to take effect for Cork, Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Galway from 6am.
Gusts of up to 130 kilometres per hour are expected and Met Eireann’s warning of disruption to power and travel.
The storm warning’s valid until 6am on Wednesday.
Met Eireann forecaster Liz Walsh outlines what people along the west coast can expect.
“Storm force wins in places, high seas and some coastal flooding.
“Heavy, squally falls of rain, with some transient falls of sleet and snow possible in the north west, and trees down as a result of this.
“An orange level wind warning has been issued for counties Cork, Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Galway, and that’s valid from 6am Tuesday until 6am Wednesday.”
