Around three quarters of 18 to 34 year-olds say they would take a Covid 19 vaccine.

New Ipsos MRBI research for the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association shows 6 per cent of the population will refuse a jab and 4% are unsure.

Nine out of 10 have either been vaccinated for Covid-19 or plan to get vaccinated.

Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association spokesperson, Bernard Melee says the more people who get jabbed the better.

"We don't know what exactly the proportion of the population that needs to get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity at this stage.

"We do know that the more people that get vaccinated against the disease the less likely it is to transmit to people across other age groups.

"If we can steer the population against further waves of infection, we can try to increase the population and community immunity across the board."
