Taliban searching for people who forked for NATO forces
Taliban militants are carrying out door-to-door searches for people who worked for NATO forces or the previous Afghanistan government, despite promising there would be “no revenge”.
The group has faced growing dissent in the country’s capital Kabul as the number of protests growing.
Yesterday, in the eastern city of Asadabad several people were killed when fighters fired into crowds, while thousands are still trying to flee the country.
Rohullah Yakobi fled from Taliban persecution in 1999 – and says he knows what is at stake.
“I know what will happen to young Afghan men and women who have achieved so much.
“I was in Kabul last month and met so many inspirational people who have done so much and achieved so much, and now everything is on the verge of being lost.”
