Talks in the North appear to have ended with no clear outcome
Talks between the British Prime Minister and the North’s political parties appear to have ended with no clear outcome.
Boris Johnson was attempting to encourage Sinn Fein and the DUP to set up a new Executive after the Assembly elections
However, the DUP is refusing to join an executive in protest at the Brexit protocol.
The DUP’s Jeffrey Donaldson and Sinn Fein’s Michelle O’Neill, in some respects, appear to be blaming the British Government for the stalemate
“It’s a question of the government acting as the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to restore our place within the UK internal market and people can make large numbers.”
“They voted for a local executive, they’ll start to put money in their pockets, and they’ve been denied all of that by the DUP, and they’ve been supported by Boris Johnson.”
