Tanaiste says next month’s budget will see people “keep more of the money they earn”
The Tanaiste says next month’s budget will see people “keep more of the money they earn” thanks to new personal taxation measures.
Leo Varadkar had previously pushed for a 30 percent income tax rate for middle income earners, though that option hasn’t been discussed by cabinet yet.
He says Budget 2023 will focus on new welfare measures to help people with the cost of living crisis:
“Like any budget there is going to be a welfare package. To help pensioners and people on welfare with the cost of living. There’s going to be a tax package to help working people to hang on to more of the money that they earn. There’ll be a package to increase public spending and public investment. And that’s what happens in every budget. I suppose it’d be different in this budget is that the scale of the budget will be bigger than in previous years.”
