Tanzania: Outbreak Of Marburg Virus Confirmed

An outbreak of Marburg Virus has been confirmed in Tanzania in Africa.
A total of 8 cases have been identified including five deaths – two of which were healthcare workers.
Marburg is a rare but severe haemorrhagic fever which affects both humans and primates.
The World Health Organisation says cross-border movements are being monitored with bordering countries including Uganda in the north – and Rwanda and Burundi in the west.
However the global risk level is currently low.
