Taoiseach ‘determined’ to ensure energy payg customers will not be cut off

The Taoiseach says he’s ‘determined’ to ensure customers who use pay-as-you-go energy meters will not be cut off this winter.

Currently, 340,000 people use the meters and are not covered by the moratorium on disconnections which will take effect from December.

Concerns continue to be raised that, despite initial promises, these customers could still face being cut off.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin told the Dáil the Commission for Regulation of Utilities does have provisions in place for pre-pay consumers.
